Potato Planting Event Marks Successful Start for PotatoEurope and SugarBeet Expo 2026
On 21 April, the grounds of Rittergut Gestorf 1 in Springe near Hanover hosted the first-ever potato planting event, marking the official start of preparations for PotatoEurope and the parallel SugarBeet Expo – the new trade fair for sugar beet professionals. During the event, Grimme demonstrated its Prios 440 planter under practical field conditions, Dewulf showcased the Certa 40 Integral, and AVR operated the Ceres 450 in the field.
The new exhibition duo will take place on 9 and 10 September in Springe near Hanover. Organizer DLG (German Agricultural Society) expects around 300 national and international exhibitors.
“The potato planting event, organized together with exhibitors and partners, was a great success and now we hope for a successful harvest that will culminate in a successful exhibition,” said Wilfried Wolf, Project Manager of PotatoEurope and SugarBeet Expo. “The new exhibition concept sends a strong signal to both sectors and provides a ray of optimism during challenging market conditions. The public planting event was a premiere for us, and we are encouraged by the positive response.”
“PotatoEurope is the leading platform for exchange, innovation and further development within our industry,” said Olaf Feuerborn, Chairman of the Board of UNIKA (Union of the German Potato Industry). “Against the backdrop of both current and future challenges, the event demonstrates just how innovative and capable the German potato sector is. As initiator and conceptual partner, we are actively supporting PotatoEurope 2026, which is organized by DLG.”
