Machinery Demonstrations

Machinery Demonstrations promise to be a real highlight of PotatoEurope.

A wide range of exciting equipment will be present on September 7. / 8 2022 at Bockerode, near Hanover. Showcasing state-of-the-art potato equipment – planters, mechanical weeders, harvesters and transfer trailers.

Machine demonstrations – an overview:

10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon:Planting, Harvesting, Loading and Transport (not commented)
10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.:Mechanical weed control (commented)
2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.:Planting, Harvesting, Loading and Transport (not commented)
2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.:Mechanical weed control (commented)

Planting

Planting should be fast, accurate and gentle on the tubers. Yet larger working widths, higher efficiencies and an increase of extreme weather events call for an increased focus on soil protection. The demonstrations will show the new and enhanced system solutions that planter manufacturers will be launching in the near future.

Planting:

  • ALL-IN-ONE GmbH (3 machines)

Mechanical Weed Control

Mechanical weed control is also becoming a viable option in traditional farming, especially in potato growing. The long growth period of potatoes and the fact that the tubers are grown in ridges makes this crop particularly suitable for mechanical weed control. However, the frequency and the timing of top work is subject to the level of weed infestation as well as the prevailing weather and soil conditions. Furthermore, the field should be sufficiently drained before top work is carried out.

Mechanical Weed Control:

  • APV Kompetenz-Center Nord GmbH
  • AVR bvba
  • Beregnung Fasterholt GmbH
  • Einböck GmbH
  • Grimme Landmaschinenfabrik GmbH & Co.KG
  • LEMKEN GmbH & Co.KG

Lifting

Lifting should be fast, clean and gentle on the tuber. Lifter developments focus on individual components and – in the case of trailed machines – on enhanced tractor-implement communication.

Potato harvesters:

  • AVR bvba (3 machines)
  • DEWULF NV (3 machines)
  • Grimme Landmaschinenfabrik GmbH & Co.KG (3 machines)
  • ROPA Fahrzeug- u. Maschinenbau GmbH (3 machines)

Transport and loading

The harvested tubers are transferred from the harvester into the waiting chaser and from there to the road vehicle – either via a transfer station or an integral elevator. The efficiency of these steps is mostly down to the transport, unloading and storage equipment.

Loaders:

  • AVR bvba
  • Bijsma Herkules
  • Josef Brettmeister Metall- und Fahrzeugbau
  • DEWULF NV
  • Grimme Landmaschinenfabrik GmbH & Co.KG
  • Grünhagen Lohnunternehmen GmbH & Co KG

Transport:

  • JOSKIN S.A.
  • Krampe Fahrzeugbau GmbH
  • Maschinenfabrik Bernard Krone GmbH & Co. KG
  • Peter Kröger GmbH
  • Rudolph & Sohn GmbH Fahrzeug- und Maschinenbau
