Together for more sustainability

Sustainable management is the guiding principle in the organisation and staging of the international meeting place for the potato industry. As the organiser of PotatoEurope, the DLG therefore focuses on climate-, environment- and resource-friendly measures in cooperation with partners, exhibitors and visitors. The focus is on three key areas: sharing expertise, conserving resources and supporting climate protection projects.

Three priorities for a more sustainable organisation of PotatoEurope

Technical programme

The theme of sustainability is reflected in the trade fair's programme and meeting points. Special attention is paid to precise and resource-efficient plant production.

Sustainable topics can be experienced in many places. From machine demonstrations to mechanical weed control or spot spraying. Visitors can also look forward to exciting presentations and demonstrations as part of the new international FarmRobotix platform.

Conservation of resources

A large proportion of the waste generated during the event (94%) is sent to a recycling initiative. Residual materials and hazardous waste will be disposed of properly in accordance with the applicable regulations. As part of a pilot project, 50% of the toilets on the site will be replaced by eco-toilets during this event.

In addition, free minibus shuttles will be offered to take visitors from the Völksen/Eldagsen or Springe railway stations directly to the event venue from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. This measure aims to support a relaxed journey by public transport and thus reduce the environmental impact.

Climate protection projects

Through the cooperation with WeReforest, a programme that supports forest owners in the conversion and establishment of climate-stable, sustainable mixed forests, exhibitors and visitors have the opportunity to reduce their ecological footprint.

Buy Green Tickets (visitor tickets) via the ticket shop of the PotatoEurope. For every Green Ticket, a tree is planted as part of the WeReforest projects. Local, regional and traceable directly in Germany.

Sustainability guide for exhibitors

The guide informs exhibitors about resource-saving measures in the planning and realisation of their trade fair presence.

  • Instruct your stand builder to install recyclable carpet or reusable carpet tiles on your tent floor.
  • Reduce stand construction materials wherever possible.
  • Use stand modules that are reusable or simply recyclable materials.
  • Check whether you can reuse packaging materials several times.
  • Check whether it is possible to upcycle company clothing.

  • Check whether it is possible to transport your machines under cover rather than wrapped in film.
  • Organise the arrival of your employees by shuttle bus

  • Use the new Green Voucher from our WeReforest project for your invitation management. At the same time, you are investing in climate-stable forest areas.
  • Add a link to the public transport timetable to your visitor invitation and refer to the free shuttle bus from Völksen/Eldagsen and Springe railway stations.

  • Use reusable crockery and cutlery.
  • Hire a caterer who uses regional and seasonal products.

  • Look out for regional service partners.

  • Plan reusable decoration materials.
  • Replace cut flowers with potted plants.

  • Reduce your company's ecological footprint and support the diverse ecosystem services provided by our forests.
